Richard Höglund: Primary Colours

curated by Kamiar Maleki

  • Richard Höglund (b.1982, New York) was educated at Northeastern University, University Karlova in Prague, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Richard Höglund works’ use language and mark making as a starting point, turning linear form into melodic abstract compositions through the use of particular materials such as microscopic shells collected on the banks of the Mississippi River, marble dust, pulverised bone, lead, tin, copper, silver and gold. The works reflect tone, timbre, time, mood, depth, colour, prescience and history.

Ronchini Gallery is delighted to present the first UK solo exhibition of works by Richard Höglund, Richard Höglund: Primary Colours, curated by Kamiar Maleki. Höglund’s unique practice explores the fundamental artistic practices of drawing and painting to create distinctive works that investigate the significance of these traditional media. Richard Höglund: Primary Colours will feature a new direction in the artist’s project, Sea Pictures, a lifelong endeavour about portraiture.
